Best Christmas menus in Mayfair
by Annabelle SpranklenWhether you’re looking to ease the season’s stress of cooking up a Christmas Day lunch or fancy a celebration with your family or friends ahead of the big day, when it comes to festive feasting, these are the best Christmas menus in Mayfair from some of our favourite restaurants.
34 Mayfair
34 Mayfair is always a Christmas spectacle, bejewelled with baubles and fairy lights. This year, the restaurant has partnered with Maison Perrier-Jouët offering a Golden Age set menu (two courses at £34, three courses at £39, paired with Perrier-Jouët Blason Rosé or Belle Époque 2014) offering dishes including pastrami cured salmon, Devonshire chicken breast with chestnut pithivier and sea bass fillet, finished with the 34 Snowflake, a dreamy panettone and vanilla mousse. Don’t miss the mince pie hot toddy shaken up with whisky and a homemade mince pie-spiced apple juice.
Jamavar
Feeling fed up with a traditional Christmas roast? Instead, turn to chef Surender Mohan’s decadent six-course festive menu at Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Jamavar. For £125, feast on turkey tikka made with pickling spices and cranberry marmalade or the beloved old Delhi butter chicken (a dish that has a cult following) with a tempting sticky date toffee pudding to finish things off. Make it extra special and opt for the accompanying wine flight (£90) too, you won’t regret it.
The Ivy Asia
There’s a fun feel to any meal at The Ivy Asia Mayfair, with its OTT interiors and at Christmas time, this place gets even better. This year, the restaurant has partnered with Champagne Laurent-Perrier for a pairing menu like no other - think the iconic show-stopping Ivy Asia Black Shell seafood platter washed down with a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Heritage Champagne or there’s the can-do-no-wrong festive set menus (from £35) featuring prawn dumplings and turkey ren dang curry.
The Barley Mow
There’s nothing quite like a Victorian Mayfair pub to get you in the Dickensian mood and The Barley Mow is pulling out all the stops this festive season. Come here to unwind, drink and be merry, with a slap-up three-course Christmas menu on the cards (£72) full of local suppliers and the finest seasonal ingredients - sugar pit pork ribs, roast Bronze turkey with pigs in blankets and chestnut and sage stuffing followed by doughnuts oozing with clementine curd. We’ll see you there.
Scott's Mayfair
Scott’s Mayfair is taking cues from festive flick It’s Wonderful Life this year, helping guests fall in love with Christmas again, the old-fashioned way. Renown for its seafood, the festive menu features Platinum caviar with blinis and creme fraiche, platters of English oysters, paired with a glass of Nyetimber 1086 or Classic Cuvee, not forgetting the classics - Dover sole, grilled lobster thermidor, and Monkfish and tiger prawn curry. Leave space for Cox's Pippin and Bramley apple pie with clotted cream, custard or ice cream (or all three, there’s no calorie-counting here).
The Connaught
Ah, The Connaught at Christmas, with its crackling fireplaces, twinkling tree and Art Deco bar, there are few places that truly embrace the festive season better. You can’t go wrong with the Festive Menu Du Jour at Jean-Georges at The Connaught (£150 for five courses) featuring Imperial Oscietra Gold caviar soft scrambled organic eggs and roast bronze Turkey and ham traditionally garnished. Or settle in for a joyful New Year's Eve dinner at The Connaught Grill, lit by candles, with Wagyu beef fillet with black truffle.
The Beaumont
An excuse to don your glad rags, The Beaumont makes even a duckling feel like a swan and it’s extra twinkly for the festive season. If a decadent Christmas Day lunch is on the cards, the sumptuous seven-course menu (£300) overflowing with seasonal favourites - lobster and salmon ravioli, roasted Norfolk Bronze turkey and dark chocolate and panettone cannelloni - is worth being rolled home for.
The Biltmore Mayfair
It’s a sugar-coated festive wonderland at The Biltmore, where a whimsical, Nutcracker-themed ‘Land of Sweets’ will delight guests of all ages. Don’t miss the Sugar Plum Fizz or the white port Winter Waltz cocktails in The Pine Bar or the lavish Christmas Day Brunch at Café Biltmore with 10 different types of desserts, from rich chocolates to sugar-dusted pastries (£120). Meanwhile an indulgent, non-traditional feast is on offer for the Christmas Day Dinner (£140 for three courses) - think Jersey rock oysters, double decker dirty burgers and New York cheesecake.
