The Beaumont’s Literary Series Continues
The Beaumont are continuing their popular in-person literary series, bringing together Britain’s best and brightest writers to read from their latest works and showcasing young writers alongside established literary names, putting a spotlight on intelligent and intriguing non-fiction stories with our overall aim being to curate a series of stimulating and engaging events.
The next event will be on Monday 3 October, 18.30pm, in the Lotos Room when the writer and broadcaster Lord Melvyn Bragg will read from his first ever memoir, Back in the Day.
In this captivating book, Lord Bragg revisits and reflects on his life from childhood to adulthood in the Cumbrian market town of Wigton, from the early years alone with his mother while his father fought in the war to the moment he left the town. It is the tale of a boy who grew up in a pub and expected to leave school at fifteen yet won a scholarship to Oxford. It is equally the tale of the people and places that formed him.
